The price for the best feature film at the 20th film festival AVANCA 2016 has been awarded to the film Enclave of the Serbian filmmaker Goran Radovanovic, also awarded in 2011 with the same price. In coincidence with this Portuguese festival the seventh edition of the international conference AVANCA | CINEMA 2016 took place between 27 and 31 July, a multicultural and interdisciplinary space where researchers all over the world can anually reflect on cinema and its relations with art, communication and technology.
The Escola Básica Proffesor Doutor Egas Moniz, an interesting concrete building of the 80’, became the event’s headquarters, organizing thematically the speakers speeches in four of its classrooms named as Dusan Makavejev, in honour of the Serbian director known for his interesting and courageous films framed in the so-called Black Wave; Ebrahim Forouzesh, reminding the Iranian filmmaker; Jimmy Murakami, recently died and known for his animation films and Jos Stelling, filmmaker but also promoter and owner in his birthplace, Utrecht, of two art-house cinemas.
In parallel, some creative film workshops, in which all age’s students have participated, and a series of film screenings and book presentations have completed this plural Conference, very well structured and organized, in which cinema was the main protagonist from multiple perspectives.
